Reforesting Degraded Land: MUJ Plants Hundreds of Trees in the Northern Bandung Area

BANDUNG BARAT, jabar.jpnn.com — “This spirit connects the struggles of the past with concrete actions to safeguard the nation’s future,” said Muhamad Sani, Director of PT Migas Utama Jabar (MUJ), in a written statement to JPNN.com, quoted on Wednesday (September 3, 2025). Sani explained that the tree-planting activity in the Northern Bandung Area (KBU) involved not only MUJ’s management and employees but also the West Java Forestry Service (Dishut Jabar), local communities, and environmental organizations — fostering a spirit of collaboration in protecting nature. The trees planted were productive species, such as mango, durian, and avocado, which were chosen for their ecological and economic value to local residents. “These trees will benefit the community economically, as in the long term they will provide fruit harvests,” Sani stated. He further noted that the Northern Bandung Area was chosen for its critical role as an ecosystem buffer zone, a flood control area, and a groundwater recharge source for the Greater Bandung region. Through this initiative, MUJ hopes to contribute to reducing environmental degradation risks while creating sustainable, long-term benefits for the ecosystem and surrounding communities. “We hope these movements will not stop here. Through MUJ’s Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) program, we remain committed to continuing this effort sustainably to restore areas that are crucial for the Greater Bandung region,” Sani concluded.
